“Items are not priced. They are very, very clearly pricing items based on the appearance of the person asking. Price descrimination is disgusting and should be illegal. When I questioned their pricing or lack thereof I was told that I can negotiate a better deal when I get to the counter. Umm no, how bout you just make prices fair and transparent instead of shaming people into paying more? Some categories have prices listed, but most don't. Their excuse is that they have a high turnover and don't have time to price things individually. I get that but it's a cop out - you can easily say "all books $1" or "all electrical $5 unless marked otherwise". It's also worth mentioning this stuff does not appear to be typical OP shop donations but the next level down - stuff people throw out in hard rubbish. Which makes sense given the tip down the road. Finally, what IS priced is not traditional OP shop prices, its the modern OP shop pricing (you all know what I mean). The one thing going for them is the location is huge and has so much potential, but I won't be back. I can't afford to pick up a few things on the off chance I "might" be able to afford them when I get to the cash register.”
“Called in to this shop yesterday. Except for some clothing items, nothing in the entire place is priced. My husband picked up a $5 shirt and I picked up a very small change purse and a small flour sifter. In any other op shop, these two items would have amounted to a combined total of $5 max. In addition, I had gone through the make up section and picked up 6 or 7 items, body creme, makeup and a couple of makeup brushes. When I went to pay, I asked how much and including the $5 shirt, he said $25. Effectively, that would make the personal items $15!! Keep in mind, this is not new makeup, it is opened, half used items. I would imagine that an opened, half used pack of eye shadow would set me back 50¢. But $15 for 6 or 7 items was over the top. So we took the shirt and left the rest. It appeared to me, that the person behind the counter, was just arbitrarily plucking numbers out of the air. I also had the feeling that pricing depended on other factors. How hard would it be to put up a sign above the makeup saying "All items x amount each." When donations come into the store, why not price them as they are being put out? I am an avid op shopper, but I will not be returning to AWR anytime soon.”
“This used to be my favourite op shop in SA, but the new owners have made it all about profit and ruined it. Once fair and friendly staff that consisted of NDIS participants are no more, they are now all men with profit as their only goal. Price tags and signs with '% off deals' is now practice. If you were a loyal customer hoping for the previous packed space of treasures at fair prices, you're going to be absolutely disappointed.”
“Price is good only if the owner likes you, he wanted $25 for an item that is $6 new online, i got my partner to go in few hours later that day and the same man told her $5”
“Amazing shop and pricing was really good, items are not ticketed as explained in other comments they have a huge turn over- but just ASK! The staff are really friendly- shoes on the back wall are a great idea”
