“I was a frequent customer before I left Tassie in june last year.. since I have returned I visited the shop today and was shocked with the place... Very unwelcoming, alot of the items are dusty and not cleaned for sale. The shed seemed to be not well presented or looked after, outside in the yard is just an extension of the tip pile, wet and most of it was well overdue for the tip pile. I agree with other comments about the state of the yard. I believe that this all stems from their prices.. I would always leave with something even if it was a cd,dvd or a book.. I was there for 20 mins most of the people who were there left with nothing including me... 3 bucks for a fake bali dvd or 3 bucks cd that has no cover and scratches on the disc show they dont check there inventory, surly someone would see that sales are not great. The place is rundown overpriced and I wouldn't even call it a shop, sorry to the poor lady that was working in that dark cold shed surrounded by rubbish covered in dust. To the person whos job it is to price everything its not ebay warehouse nor a antique shop its a rubbish collection depot.. Its not going to affect you in anyway but me and my family will never return in its current state... 4 stars rating ? You gotta be kidding me.”
“Large range of second hand items, you could spend all day there. It is situated at the waste transfer station, and is up in the hills, so be prepared for a bit of a drive...”
“Who wants to buy a pot lid for $10? Teddybear at $8.00 cups at $3.00 dented ??? Waste of a drive and overprice ... these things donated are meant help people?? when you walk out with nothing ??? not helping nobody. But they can spend a $$$$$ on direction signto get there... Sad times”
“So over priced. Some of the items are more expensive than getting it new at Kmart. Avoid at all cost. City Mission is a for profit company hiding behind its charitable status. Management and board love their perks and salary packaging.”
“12/01/25 I have been a frequent visitor and buyer at this resale shop and was happy to tell my friends about it. I moved house last September and haven't been for a while until today. I was shocked at how it has deteriorated. Not as well organised as it used to be and the prices seem to have doubled. The yard out the back is a dog's breakfast and inside is not much better. I am not surprised there is no room for anything with the prices they are asking now. The three people that were there all walked out empty handed. The attendant said he was responsible for the pricing and wouldn't even barter with any of us for items that weren't marked. Retail 101 is to increase throughput by lowering prices and to reduce inventory, especially as more items are being brought in or donated, constantly. I would hazard a guess that revenue is down because of it, which isn't going to help those who are supported by this Mission Shop. People are doing it hard and can't often buy new anymore, but some of the prices at this tip shop aren't much better. It seems unfair when the items are donated to begin with. The customers are missing out and the beneficiaries from sales are missing out. I hope they do something about managing this once great tip shop better than what I found it today. It's a real shame.”
