“Paid a visit to this store for the first time on 6th September 2024 while being in Chatswood, as you couldn't hear a pin drop. The manager seemed to be Anglo-Saxon Australian with the workers or volunteers being Chinese as they seemed scared and intimidated. Just going through the records there (being a record collector) as LPs were priced at $2 each to my surprise especially being in an up-market rich suburb in the North Shore. Prices on books were reasonable and other goods, cheaper than Salvos Rockdale. I left the store empty-handed as I will say the premises was very clean.”
“I browsed this store and left without buying anything. After leaving and walking about 40 metres down the street, I was chased by a Salvos staff member who demanded to look in my bag, removed my coat from the bag without permission and insisted on checking it for price tags. The duty manager condoned this because 'people steal from the fitting rooms'. I hadn't entered the fitting rooms and the staff actions are assault. Complaint to head office has been made - if you're thinking of coming to this Salvos, give it a miss.”
“Possibly the worst op shop experience of my life. So sad to see the staff berated by their manager in such a condescending tone, especially with the way she was monitoring their every move. I couldn’t take it longer than 3 minutes before my friend and I left since we were both extremely uncomfortable with how this employer spoke to her staff. I genuinely hope the people who work here find better jobs that actually give them respect.”
“Just walked in during a ‘op shop day’ down the train line. The manager was ridiculously rude to a mature aged employee who was clearly on her first few shifts. She was talking in a demanding tone, way too loud (enough to be heard from the other side of the shop). This employee was trying so hard to explain why she was confused however this manager put her down and silenced her in front of many customers. Other staff and customers were clearly uncomfortable so we left before even completing a single lap of the store. How unfortunate that the reviews posted years before mine have clearly gone unappreciated. As a retail worker, I am so personally upset for this staff member who was treated this way so unnecessarily. Do better Salvos.”
“The store has had a refurbishment in June 2022 and it is unrecognisable from before. It's light, bright and inviting with plenty of space to look around. Unfortunately didn't snap many photos, too busy looking at everything.”
