“I stepped into this shop and it felt like the shelves were watching me. One book in particular seemed to reach out, and before I knew it, I had paid for it and set it loose to haunt me through Australia Post until it finally arrived at my door just as it was meant to. The shop is quiet and full of odd little treasures, the kind you don’t realize you need until you are holding them and wondering how you ever lived without them. Every corner feels carefully curated but still a little wild, like the books themselves arranged it all when no one was looking. Ben was kind, patient, and clearly experienced in handling both cursed objects and the strange people they belong to. Even while out of range and on winter break he made sure the book found its way home and made the whole process feel personal and thoughtful rather than transactional. Five stars for the book, five stars for Ben, five stars for the quiet spell this place casts on anyone who walks in and a few extra stars for keeping a little magic alive in the world.”
“Lots of lovely treasures and Tasmanian souvenirs to peruse and purchase.”
“What a pleasant surprise encountering the Shop in the Bush whilst driving up into the hills. Made hubby stop so we could have a browse. He enjoyed it as much as I did. Their stock turns over regularly and apparently the do a lot of online sales. Second hand, interesting books, antiques, chandelier’s, jewellery and so much more. Friendly staff too. Don’t drive past!”
“What a treasure trove of amazing antiques. It's out in the middle of nowhere. It isn't very well signed, and it just pops up as you come around a corner. But if you can stop and just have a browse it's well worth it. Lovely lady very friendly.”
“Literally in the bush, in the middle of nowhere situates this wonderful shop with warm welcoming owner. She is helpful and has a warmth about her. This shop will surprise you. I expected some groceries, food and drinks but I was in for a surprise. Books - good second hand ones, rare first (or early) editions, antique books, rare coins, other collectibles, T-shirts, curios, and …. EXPENSIVE JEWELLERY!! A $19,000 bracelet, $6,000 earrings… I was blown away. A million dollars worth of stock sitting in the middle of nowhere! She could have easily set that up in the town but I think she chose this place deliberately. What a way to stand out from the crowd! And she gets a lot of foot traffic in the store , mainly people travelling to St Helen’s . I picked up “Bring up the bodies” by Hilary Mantel for $10. They post your purchases to you if you are travelling and don’t want to carry things around. 5 out of 5!!”
