Vinnies Kilsyth

“I have truly never felt less connected to god than shopping in the Kilsyth vinnies. I could not believe the prices and it definitely is not accessible or affordable for those of us doing it tough (which is what I thought the point of an op shop was). Tea light candles that would have cost $2 brand new at Kmart were priced at $5. A Kmart brand cutlery drawer organiser was TWELVE DOLLARS when I know for a fact it was only $5 brand new at Kmart (I know because I bought it from Kmart when they released it 5 years ago). I recently escaped my abusive living situation and thought I was entitled to having a nicely decorated home, but when a small flimsy side table is $30??? It feels discouraging. This place is not holy, and the lord would be disgusted in the gluttony taking place here. The lady named Shirley that works there is the only positive.”

“Maybe I'm crazy but 2 times in a row now a staff member has listened in on my kids and I talking and being goofy and came up to us and trash talk us. I only can imagine it's a grumpy place to work and they are on edge. It's insane to me that someone would interject into us having our goofy fun when we are in no way being inappropriate or disruptive. Literally just talking about which Halloween weapons would be best for the zombie apocalypse.... Weapons by the way they are selling with they toys, weapons we are using literally talking about. If your grump, go punch a pillow, leave us to be happy.”

“I am always blown away by how friendly the staff are here. The store is always so neat and tidy. There is a large variety, and all very reasonably priced. Kudos to the manager for having such a wonderful team!”

“Been coming here for quite some time, I love the colour and category coordination, new additions such as the jewellery bags (usually $5-7). My personal favourite sections are the books, formal dresses, home decor and men’s shirts. Vinnies prices haven’t changed too much with the surge of youth in stores as thrifting has become more popular which I’m glad about. Volunteers are always quite personable when you’re checking out.”
