VMCH OP Shop - Balwyn

“I rang ahead to ask about accessibility for a wheelchair and was told yes there is a side entrance and it’s accessible. We went excited to visit but the accessible lane way had pot plants and planters on both walls ( either side) making it extremely difficult then entering there were chairs and bricabrac piled everywhere and there was no way to turn or access any aisle to look at things . My carer spoke to a lady a said about it and another staff was near by but ignoring us - the lady said she would tell the manager so I asked the other staff who said they were the manager - I said Villa Maria was a Support for people with disabilities and had started off as Villa Maria School for the blind - The manager was very dismissive and rude . she should not have ignored us and let us complain to the volunteer! while we were there a man came in to give a donation with low vision and a cane and struggled up the steps as he couldn’t safely access the lane way - Very poor VMCH! Not good enough”
