YMCA Op Shop

“I usually love supporting op shops, but I had a disappointing experience at the YMCA store. I bought a $12 pair of shoes which broke after just one wear. As a full-time single mum of two young kids (1 and 3 years old), I couldn’t return straight away. When I finally made it back and kindly asked about a discount on a $29 pair, I was told they could only take $2 off because they were a “good brand.” Worse, the staff member implied I’d worn the shoes “to the ground”, essentially suggesting I was lying. I found that really upsetting. I came in respectfully and just hoped for some understanding. The dismissive attitude and poor customer service were disappointing, especially as someone doing their best on a tight budget. I’ve since found new shoes for a better price elsewhere. I share this in the hope that others - especially mums and families , are treated with more kindness and fairness in the future”
