“This was the most delightful shopping experience I’ve ever had. Jess showered me with compliments and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed to make my purchases, day and life as amazing as she could, which is pretty amazing. I’m sorry to have stripped the man manikin of his fine threads although I do hope the people of Northcote can now enjoy a bit of window raunchiness in lieu.”
“Shop in Northcote is so neat, well organised from 5 to 6 months ago. I can see the people working there are still getting it super organised with lots of TLC. Love the window displays. So quirky and colourful. The volunteers are friendly and the management people seemed to be on the ball and happy to help. I bought a couple of active gear that were new and a bargain! Including those world cup scarves. I can spend hours here.”
“Red Cross Op Shop Northcote has a good selection, especially if you are looking for nice dresses. There are some stylish and well kept pieces that feel more curated than your average op shop, which is a plus if you enjoy browsing higher quality items. That said, the prices are on the expensive side, even by op shop standards. While the quality is there, it can be hard to justify some of the price tags when you are expecting thrift store value. Overall, it is a decent place to browse if you are happy to pay more for better condition and nicer styles, but it is not ideal if you are bargain hunting.”
“My wife & I attempted to return a $28 counterfeit item purchased from a Red Cross op shop 5 days earlier today, with proof of purchase and tags still attached. Despite this, the staff member tried to refused a refund. When we insisted, we then spent around 20 minutes waiting while he tried to work out how to process a refund, before being told it “couldn’t be done.” When I asked if a cash refund was possible (seemed like the logical solution if he didn’t know how to refund via card) he scoffed and very rudely said, “I’m not giving you cash!” then told me to wait outside when I questioned why this wasn’t possible. It became pretty obvious he didn’t actually know how to process the refund back to the card. Not sure why he couldn’t have told us this and given us cash. We ultimately had to call another Red Cross store, who were able to walk him through the returns process over the phone- proving the situation was completely avoidable if staff were properly trained. We spent almost one hour trying to get a refund for a counterfeit item. Very disappointing customer service, especially for a charity store. The attitude was unnecessary, and the lack of training wasted everyone’s time. I’d recommend avoiding this location unless staff training and customer service improve.”
“Love it that this stores profits go to a good cause, but the pricing of items here is ridiculous. Real life example, I bought a winter coat from another charity on the high st for $45. Here the same item in a different colour was $250!! (For this brand, new it would retail for 120-150.) This is not a store for thrift shoppers unfortunately.”
