βJono is a lovely owner and person and so much better than the previous lady who owned this shop!! Also much cheaper so worth shopping there and doesn't make you feel ashamed for trying things on that might not fit you, he also doesn't follow you around the whole time making you feel like a criminal or making you anxious!! He has made the shop so much better, more like an op shop and place you actually want to visit rather than a place to avoid!! Well done and thanks Jono, keep up the good work, good luck and best wishes Jono!! ππβ
βWho would have thought in the heart of Richmond is this amazing opportunity shop with old to new doing its part recycling unwanted goods at great prices. The friendly owner has only been in the shop for a month, but thanks to his ongoing sale new stock arrives daily. A great place to visit.β
βGood finds at Serious Recycling shop!!! I recently decided to give Serious Recycling a try and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience, I love the vintage Disco ball I bought, It was like taking a delightful journey back in time. βSerious Recycling is one of my faviourite places to shop in Richmond! Full to the brim with treasures including vintage clothes! Ann and her husband are super friendly and really go out of their way to source what you are looking for. My favourite part about visiting is getting to see the new items that they have made out of items which others would normally just throw away. Highly recommend a visit!β
βWhat an upsetting and awful experience I had at this store today. I'm autistic and I have a trained psychiatric and mobility assistance dog. Before we even got to the front door, still standing outside the shop, I was looking at something out the front. The lady with the grey and pink hair came to tell me and my assistance dog that we couldn't come into their store, I smiled and calmly explained he was an assistance dog, I just hadn't put his vest on yet (vests is not a legal requirement FYI, they are merely an identifier) I showed her his vest which had his ID tag clearly showing. She said "okay, the dog can come in but you can't". Me being very confused by the comment I thought she was making a light joke, as I'd been nothing but polite and smiles to her. So I politely laughed and went back to looking at the items. She then snapped and said excuse me! You need to leave right now. I was completely caught off guard as I have NEVER been spoken to like that just because I had my disability aid with me and because our conversation up to that point was a fairly civil one, even if I was the only one being polite. She said "we have people that shop here that are allergic to dogs" while using her hands to shoo my my dog away. If you know anything about the laws of the Disability Discrimination Act you'd know that excuse is completely invalid and illegal to use as a reason to force someone to leave an establishment. She then ushered me to the sidewalk, still ranting that she was allowed to force me to leave. I tried to educate her that she couldn't ask me to leave because of someone's potential allergic reaction. I said "you cannot discriminate against me because I have my mobility aid with me", She disagreed. I then asked her "you know what you just did was highly illegal!?" She then pointed her finger in my face and very nastily responded "I told you, the dog can come in but YOU can't because you're RUDE!" Which was SO confusing, I had literally been nothing but polite, albeit confused, up to that point, but not once did I speak to her with the same unprofessional, nasty, disrespectful attitude she gave me. I walked off so upset and confused by this random and completely unecerssary attack. I won't deny I said "what a horrible woman" as I walked away. And judging by the plethora of reveiws saying similar things I'm certainly not the only person this woman has be unbelievably ill-mannered to. To the owner/person who discriminated against me today, I encourage you to do your research on the laws surrounding Assistance animals. I also would highly appreciate an apology for the abhorrent way I was treated today and hope the next time I'm at your establishment I won't face any further unlawful discrimination.β
