“This is one of the best op shops in Perth. I even found my unicorn item here that I never thought I’d find. White linen look blockout curtain with rings. $8! Pristine condition. Immaculate and calming space. Very high quality clothing. Huge range in a small space. Many shoes are new and absolute bargains. Designer items mixed into the cheaper, set price clothing racks. Set price clothing the cheapest you’ll see in Perth and the quality is clearly curated… there’s no junk on the racks. $5 for tops and pants. $8 for dresses. Absolutely lovely volunteer at the desk. I bought five things, I could have got double that amount but I had restraint. And best thing is that this is a top shelf charity. Nearly all proceeds go directly to men and women with cancer diagnoses. There’s meditation, counselling and reiki and more offered to them free by volunteers. Wow. Get behind this place. And every 1st Saturday of the month they have a sale. See flyer in below images. If we don’t support fantastic community initiatives like this place, they disappear. This is the op shop model done *right*. Not like the major chain op shops.”
“In May 2025 I , a courier driver , had to deliver some goods at the Breast Cancer centre next door to Solaris. I saw the sign WANSLEA as I pulled in the drive way and thought "you go to be kidding"! Then I saw the building and I remember as if it was yesterday. It was very confronting. You see , the last time I was in that building was back in 1967 , it was a children's home then. Children who had sick parents would go there if they had no where else to go. My Mum was ill and my Dad had to work and my brothers were away so I stayed in WANSLEA for 6 weeks. It was like an orphanage. So here am I ahain at WANSLES in 2025 and I had to go inside where there was an op shop. The kind shop keeper , Teresa , asked if this was my 1st time here. I said "the last time I was here was about 60 years ago."Then I couldn't stop the tears. I was never abused there but I felt alienated and frightened. I was a whimsy kid that couldn't fit in. Teresa was very comforting and introduced me to the lady in charge, Linda. I explained my situation and she kindly said "this is a place of healing now". She was very kind and comforting. She took me on a tour and went into one room I remember well even though it was so long long ago. I was offered tea and scones made by another staff member (sorry can't remember her name). The scones were so nice. On the tour I saw the time table listing yoga , meditation, reiki , feldenkrais, massage etc. The visit was a healing experience for me , like a closure. I wish to thank all the staff who took the time to help me during that very emotional time. Somehow I knew I could find help during that time of need. I recommend this place to any cancer pt who needs support. Trust me , you won't be disappointed. Again thank you all so much and God bless. Peter”
“The ladies who run this place are so nice. They always work with you rather than against. We love this place. Well done girls.😛”
“Ok. Pretty small. It might have been a coincidence but the vollie followed me into each room. It was just me and her. When I went into a room, so did she 5 seconds after I did. Just pushing coat hangers around and looking at what I was doing. I felt uncomfortably like she was making sure I wasn't shop lifting. Awkward.”
“Two little op shops located here but its the history of the building and what its used for thats impressive. 1905 orphan house used for solaris care.”
