“I usually love supporting local op shops, especially knowing that they raise money for important charities and community causes. Op shops are meant to be inclusive spaces where pre-loved items can find new homes, and the proceeds go towards helping those in need. However, I was disappointed by a recent experience at this store. A unique gorilla item was on display, and someone politely asked to purchase it, offering $40. Despite the offer, the manager declined to sell it, even though it was out on the shop floor. It felt like a missed opportunity to support the shop’s charitable purpose. While it’s understandable that some displays are decorative, it’s worth remembering that every sale contributes to the bigger picture – supporting the very causes op shops exist for. Hopefully next time, the focus will be more on fundraising and community access, rather than holding back stock that customers are willing and happy to purchase. I’ll continue supporting op shops, but I hope this store rethinks decisions like this in future.”
