Wye General Store

“This is a beautiful location overlooking the Wye River outlet to gorgeous ocean views. There is so much to like about the location itself. But I can't quite share the same glowing praise for the cafe beside the General Store. Unfortunately, having visited here on many occasions now, I've not once been greeted by genuinely friendly and attentive staff. If anything, they seem quiet and aloof... bordering on disinterested. The last three times I've been here, my order has been mistaken. Instead of oat milk, I received regular milk in a coffee. Bacon on a friend's vegetarian meal and the most recent trip, I asked specifically for no jalapenos in the scrambled eggs... I repeated this twice before ordering, and yet I received scrambled eggs with jalapenos? My friend ordered an oat milk chai latte and received an oat milk latte? No apologies. No remakes. No refunds. No care. No responsibility. I could let this fly if it were just a one-off occurrence?... but this seems to be the norm. I spoke with some other customers after my order was mistaken. They told me, "You just get used to the lack of service, or you just keep driving further down the road to Kennet River or Apollo Bay... we've given up on service here, we just can't be bother driving any further, and the views keep us here. " Not very reassuring?... But kind of true, really.”

“Wye River general store is exactly that, a general store that is fantastic for locals and visitors as they have everything! They also have a cafe arm with inside and outside tables to relax and enjoy. Coffee here is good and they have decent food options for both quick bites and eat in. The menu isn't extensive but will cover the basics. Food is ok but just lacking some flavour. You'll be ok with it, just don't expect too much and enjoy the coffee”

“We had breakfast here and the food was excellent. walkable distance from the wye river campground. Bit on the expensive side though.”

“The only breakfast option around if you are staying at Wye river. The food is good (everything on the menu was delicious - we tried avo smash, chilli scram and scrambled eggs) and so is the coffee. Great place for a quick pit stop too as it is right on the road”

“Like every place that has no competition, this cafe is highly overpriced and service is slow. We ordered the "toast with honey" and that's exactly what we got! - two pieces of dry toast and a serve of honey! We had to go and ask for butter, which we eventually received and proceeded to apply it to our now cold toast. Then we were hit with surprise number two, the toast was only toasted on one side!? - it was really like they'd never had someone order toast before. So, at $3.50 per slice of bread, we were disappointed, bemused, but disappointed. (We don't know if having both sides toasted was a premium or extra, but suspect it might have been)”
